The AJA Ki Pro is a portable, file-based HD and SD recorder and player that established a new standard for tapeless video production by being the first recorder to support Apple ProRes 422 capture in hardware, delivering edit-ready files without transcoding or special importers.

Apple ProRes 422 Hardware Recording

The Ki Pro records natively to Apple ProRes 422, ProRes 422 HQ, ProRes 422 LT, and ProRes 422 Proxy codecs in hardware at full-raster 10-bit 4:2:2, covering SD and HD formats including 720p and 1080i/p. Files record directly to QuickTime, making them immediately compatible with Final Cut Pro, DaVinci Resolve, Adobe Premiere Pro, and Avid Media Composer right off the storage module with no conversion required.

10-Bit Up, Down, and Cross-Conversion

Built-in 10-bit realtime up, down, and cross-conversion allows the Ki Pro to unify SD, 720p, and 1080i sources into a single desired output format during recording, simplifying multi-format production workflows without any external conversion hardware.

Extensive I/O Connectivity

The rear panel includes HD/SD-SDI input and output, HDMI input and output, component HD/SD analog video I/O via 6 BNC connectors, composite video output, 2-channel balanced XLR and unbalanced RCA analog audio I/O with switchable line/mic levels, and LTC timecode in/out, covering virtually any camera or production source in a live or studio environment.

Removable KiStor Storage

The Ki Pro captures directly to AJA KiStor Storage Modules, available as HDDs or SSDs in multiple capacities. KiStor modules include built-in FireWire 800 connectivity for direct connection to a Mac edit system, eliminating logging, capturing, and roundtrip transcoding from the post-production workflow entirely.

Remote Control and Wireless

The Ki Pro connects to a local network via Gigabit Ethernet RJ45 for remote control and configuration from any standard web browser on Mac or PC. Built-in 802.11b/g wireless allows control from an iPhone, iPod Touch, or any Wi-Fi-connected computer, and RS-422 serial control is also supported for integration into larger production setups.
