The Blackmagic Design URSA Broadcast G2 Fiber Optics Camera Package is a complete, broadcast-ready studio camera system that combines the URSA Broadcast G2 camera body with a professional studio viewfinder, Camera Fiber Converter, and Studio Fiber Converter for full SMPTE fiber deployment up to 2km from the switcher position.
URSA Broadcast G2 Camera
The URSA Broadcast G2 is a 3-in-1 broadcast camera built around a 6K Super 35mm CMOS sensor with 13 stops of dynamic range and dual native ISO, capable of operating as a 4K production camera, 4K studio camera, or 6K digital film camera. It records to Apple ProRes, H.265, H.264, and Blackmagic RAW across dual CFast 2.0 and UHS-II SD card slots, with 12G-SDI input and output, built-in 2/4/6-stop optical ND filters, 2 XLR audio inputs, genlock and timecode I/O, and a 4″ touchscreen LCD. Generation 5 color science and a lightweight magnesium alloy body round out the camera’s core feature set.
Blackmagic Design 7″ URSA Studio Viewfinder G2
The URSA Studio Viewfinder G2 transforms the URSA Broadcast G2 into a full studio camera with a 7″ high-brightness TFT LCD display at 1920×1200 resolution and 2000 cd/m2, a detachable metal sunshade, large grip handles, an articulated pivot mount, a tally light, and rotary control dials with customizable function buttons. It mounts directly to the Camera Fiber Converter via V-Lock and connects via 3G-SDI BNC with 4-pin XLR power.
Blackmagic Design Camera Fiber Converter
The Camera Fiber Converter attaches to the rear of the URSA Broadcast G2 and converts all camera signals into a single SMPTE fiber connection, relocating the most common camera controls to the rear of the assembly for operator ease of access. It provides 1 12G-SDI output for HD or UHD 4K camera feed, 3 3G-SDI return feed inputs for monitoring, 2 5-pin XLR talkback headset connections, 2 XLR analog audio inputs, and an integrated V-Lock plate on top for mounting the studio viewfinder.
Blackmagic Design Studio Fiber Converter
The Studio Fiber Converter lives at the switcher or OB truck end of the SMPTE fiber run, converting signals from the remote camera back into standard broadcast connections compatible with live production switchers, audio mixers, and talkback interfaces. It features 3 12G-SDI inputs, 2 12G-SDI outputs, 4 XLR analog audio outputs, a SMPTE 304 fiber connector, a 9-pin D-Sub for PTZ control, a 25-pin intercom and tally connection, Ethernet, and SFP fiber output, along with a 5″ front panel display for monitoring. The unit automatically performs safety checks and sends industry-standard 200V over the SMPTE cable to power the camera and all accessories from a single connection.
