Video Inputs and Switching
The Roland VR-4HD features 4 HDMI inputs and 2 HDMI outputs, with three dedicated inputs supporting 1080p, 1080i, and 720p, and a fourth input with a built-in scaler for handling both video and computer resolutions up to 1920×1200. Video sources can also be set to switch automatically at a customizable interval, useful for unmanned or volunteer-run setups.
18-Channel Audio Mixing
The audio mixer handles 4 XLR microphone inputs, stereo RCA, a 1/8″ mini input, and embedded audio from all 4 HDMI inputs. Auto Mixing automatically manages microphone levels across multiple speakers, while audio delay ensures perfect lip-sync between audio and video output.
Echo Cancellation and USB Loopback
A built-in echo cancellation feature and USB 3.0 loopback capability allow audio from a connected PC running conferencing software like Zoom or Skype to be brought in and returned cleanly, without howling or feedback, making the VR-4HD a solid tool for hybrid meetings and webconferences.
Touchscreen and Hardware Controls
The built-in multi-viewer LCD doubles as a touchscreen interface for adjusting picture-in-picture settings, previewing all inputs, and accessing setup parameters. Physical faders and buttons handle real-time switching and audio control without relying on a mouse or keyboard.
Remote Control and Tally
The Roland VR-4HD supports remote control via the VR-4HD RCS app over RS-232C, and includes a D-Sub 9-pin Tally/GPIO connector for tally signal output and system integration, features typically found only on larger production switchers.
