The Blackmagic Design ATEM Constellation 2 M/E HD is a professional 1RU live production switcher built around a dual M/E design, delivering broadcast-grade switching, compositing, and audio mixing for demanding multi-camera live productions.
10-Bit 3G/HD-SDI Inputs and Outputs
The 2 M/E Constellation processes all video at 10-bit across 20 3G-SDI inputs and 12 independent 3G-SDI aux outputs, supporting all standard and high definition formats up to 1080p60. Each input includes its own dedicated frame rate converter and format converter, allowing cameras, computers, and non-genlocked sources running different formats to be mixed freely without any external conversion hardware.
Multiview Monitoring and Webcam Output
Two multiview outputs support up to 16 routable windows per display, covering inputs, keyed video, graphics, stills from the media pool, and program output all on a single monitor. A USB-C output appears as a standard webcam device on any connected computer, providing direct compatibility with Zoom, Teams, YouTube, and other streaming platforms without additional hardware.
Keyers, DVEs, and SuperSource
The switcher includes 8 upstream keyers and 2 downstream keyers with full chroma and luma keying capability, along with 2 DVEs for picture-in-picture, squeeze transitions, and graphic wipes. A SuperSource compositing processor adds multilayer capability for complex visual arrangements, with built-in color generators and pattern generators for titles, backgrounds, and test signals.
48-Channel Fairlight Audio Mixer
The built-in 48-channel Fairlight audio mixer includes 6-band parametric EQ and dynamics processing with compressor, limiter, expander, and gate on every channel, along with 2 channels of embedded audio on all SDI inputs and outputs and balanced analog audio inputs via 1/4″ TRS jacks.
Control and Talkback
The switcher supports full hardware or software control via the built-in front panel, free ATEM Software Control for Mac and Windows, or optional ATEM Advanced hardware panels over Ethernet. Built-in broadcast talkback is available via front 5-pin XLR headset connector and rear RJ12 for ClearCom or RTS systems, with SDI talkback on channels 15 and 16 for two-way communication with Blackmagic cameras.
